J.K. Rowling outs Dumbledore at Carnegie Hall in New York.  The beloved Hogwart’s headmaster and wizard, is gay.  While speaking to fans during a reading and book signing promoting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Rowling told fans about Dumbledore’s sexuality.

The wealthy author of the Harry Potter series stated that she “always thought Dumbledore was gay.”  Rowling went on to describe the relationship between Grindelwald and Dumbledore as romantic in nature.  Grindelwald’s decent into the dark arts and his ultimate destruction by Dumbledore was the Hogwart’s Headmaster’s great tragedy.

The admission by Rowling has been met with mixed reviews by fans.  Some have stated that Rowling’s admission is too much information about a primary character in the Potter books.  While others have welcomed the news as further insight into the complex character that is Albus Dumbledore.

The Seventh book in the Harry Potter Lexicon Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the fastest selling printed book of all time.  So it comes, as no surprise that Rowling is the first Billionaire author as well.  The outing of Dumbledore may invigorate the discussion surrounding the series.
