Popular Author Robert Jordan Has Passed Away
Popular fantasy author Robert Jordan has passed away. His series Wheel of Time captivated millions of readers for over a decade. On September 17, 2007 he slipped away at a hospital in South Carolina.
Jordan, whose real name was James Oliver Rigney Jr. was born in Charleston South Carolina in 1948. He successfully completed two tours of duty in Vietnam winning many medals including a bronze star. He also received a degree in physics and became a Nuclear Engineer for the U.S. Navy. Jordan began writting the 1970’s when he began a series of historical novels based in his hometown which was published in the 1980’s. He also contributed to the Connan the Barbarian series until he finally broke away to begin the wildly popular Wheel of Time Books in 1990 when The Eye of the Word was first published. Jordan was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder and despite the poor 4 year prognosis he remained optimistic till the end the he would beat the disease. So it is with heavy hearts the we mourn the passing of Robert Jordan (James Oliver Rigney Jr) at the early age of 58 has left us.

Ontario Votes 2007
Fall is a time of change. The days become shorter and the leaves take on a new hue. Politics has decided this is the season for change as well. So on October 10th, 2007 Ontarians will take to the polls.
To complicate matters there are 12 parties on the ballot for this election. The stalwarts, such as the Liberal Party, Conservative Party, NDP, and Green Party are on the ballot. As well as newcomers such as, the Reform Party, the Republican Party and the Party for People with Special Needs, to name a few. With all of this party information circulating are mailboxes are stuffed beyond capacity, with information to help us decide which candidate is our best representative.
Each party has an individual stance on issues concerning the environment, crime, education and health care. Each candidate is doing their best to earn our votes as we proceed ever closer towards the 10th of October.
