Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.  Author of Slaughterhouse 5, Cats Cradle, Breakfast of Champions as well as many more works of fiction has left us.  His contributions to literature in the 20th Century will continue to have a lasting impact for many years to come.  To commemorate his passing I leave you with this quote from Breakfast of Champions.

Did You Know?

April 5, 2007 at 10:00 am (Community, Technology)

Your library is environmentally conscious and here are some of the ways it is:

Our toilets are 1.6 litre (compared to the ones that use a lot more water to do their job…)

We use environmentally friendly toilet paper (thanks Bernard!)

And how about those pesky blinking lights?! Well, those are actually on censors and they make sure we don’t waste energy in lighting an area that is unused. (Hint: If the lights go off while you are looking for a book, wave your arms or, better yet, start dancing and they should come back on!)

We also have sensors on our urinals and most of our water taps.

Of course we also recycle all of our fluorescent bulbs and our computers and monitors!

And now you know!   :)
