Did You Know?
Your library is environmentally conscious and here are some of the ways it is:
Our toilets are 1.6 litre (compared to the ones that use a lot more water to do their job…)
We use environmentally friendly toilet paper (thanks Bernard!)
And how about those pesky blinking lights?! Well, those are actually on censors and they make sure we don’t waste energy in lighting an area that is unused. (Hint: If the lights go off while you are looking for a book, wave your arms or, better yet, start dancing and they should come back on!)
We also have sensors on our urinals and most of our water taps.
Of course we also recycle all of our fluorescent bulbs and our computers and monitors!
And now you know!
Earth Month
April is Earth Month and we have set up a display on the second floor that highlights great books that will inspire you to be more environmentally friendly!
Some titles include:
Conscious Style Home by Danny Seo
Radical Simplicity: Small Footprints on a Finite Earth by Jim Merkel
Good News for a Change: Hope for a Troubled Planet by David Suzuki
And if you are feeling especially eager, you could sign up to take the Nature Challenge. Click here for more information!
