Change to Daylight Savings Time
Some of us may have a new excuse to be late for work this year. Starting March 2007 Daylight Saving Time will be changed to reflect changes being made in the United States. The Standard North American period for Daylight Savings Time is changing to the second Sunday in March till the first Sunday of November.
The impact of the change could be felt in the work place, as many computerized devices are pre-programmed with the former Daylight Savings Time schedule. This could mean that some devices will not automatically reflect the time change. Most manufacturers of handheld and computer devices are attempting to find a solution to the problem prior to the March deadline.
For more details on Daylight Savings Time visit the National Research Council Canada.

Zorbing: An extreme sport in which you are strapped into a hug plastic ball and are then launched off a hillside. Aficionados of the sport; called Zorbonauts, enjoy the thrill of rocketing down the hill in an uncontrollable but completely safe air cushion. The PVC ball referred to as a Zorb, looks like a giant beach ball around 3 metres in diameter. The cockpit is an inner ball which can accommodate up to 3 Zorbonaurts. (MacMillan English Dictionary)
Freedom to Read: February 25 -March 3,2007
“Freedom to read can never be taken for granted. Even in Canada, a free country by world standards, books and magazines are banned at the border. Books are removed form the shelves in Canadian libraries, schools and bookstories every day. Free speech on the Internet is under attack. Few of these stories make headlines, but they affect the right of Canadians to decide for themselves what they choose to read.” www.freedomtoread.ca
The BPL has a book display on banned or challenged books for children, teens and adults. Please come in to grab one and enjoy your Freedom to Read.
